Can the Kraaifontein Killer become South Africa’s fastest FWD drag car?

By Jehran Naidoo for Auto Rush

A surge of adrenaline rushes through your body once the WOT Racing Opel Corsa stages in the burnout box…

All of the videos you’ve watched on social media come to your mind and you expect this little rocket to lift off…

Time after time, Jacques Janse Van Rensberg does just that. Lift the fuck off.

Crowd pleaser

Be it in front of his home crowd at Killarney or over a thousand kilometers away at Dezzi. The younger brother of AB de Villiers never fails to entertain.

Jacques is well on his way to the 8 second bracket and according to him, eager to become the fastest front wheel drive car in South Africa. He would first have to beat Scott Wynnes 8.965 second Caddy before he gets there though.

Nasen’s Opel record

At present, the fastest Opel record is held by Nasen Padayachee of Nascar Performance. An old time Durban street racer who forged his place in South African drag racing history with guess what? An Opel !!!

Seems these Opel boys also get one over everyone else when it comes to the Front wheel drive.

Padayachee ran a best time of 8.74 @ 270km/h at Tarlton back in 2008 and is the 2nd fastest in the 4 cyl. turbo/nos class.

The fastest front wheel drive car in the country overall, belongs to Quinten Boylan – the renowned Honda man that ran an 8.27 seconds @ 290km/h in the turbo K-series. Boylan set the record at Tarlton in 2017.

Back to the grind

Shortly after the shootout on Saturday, the WOT Racing team made their way to Tarlton Raceway in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, where practice for Round 2 of the Dicktator Regionals is underway.

Jacques and Cameron have shown an immense level of dedication to the cause with the Corsa, since bursting onto the scene last year August.

His wife and daughter tag along with them every step of the way, making it a family victory for everyone involved.

Jacques receives top honors in the 4BX class by Alex Elijah of Gas Magazine

He ran a new personal best and smashed his previous track record at Dezzi this weekend.

A 9.1 second @ 233km/h sets his Corsa about 0.5 seconds ahead of his closest competitor – Lance Pillay of ERC Racing who ran a 9.6.

The 9.1 second run puts Jacques is 4th place in the quickest 4 cylinder turbo/nos cars, behind Scott Wyness.
