Cape Town Grand Prix SA (CTGPSA) has submitted a bid to the National Bid Steering Committee (BSC) to host the Formula 1, according to CarMag.
Talks of an F1 race in South Africa have been around for some time, with most expecting Kyalami in Gauteng to play host.
But ‘the most beautiful City in the world’ has now thrown its name into the mix and proposed a Monaco-style street circuit.
A 5.7 km street circuit carving around the DHL Stadium in Green Point with a couple of high speed straights have been proposed.

If Cape Town gets the green light, it could be arguably one of the most spectacular racing destinations on the F1 calendar.
The mother city’s bid to host the race hinges largely on how it can show the economic advantages and tourism growth.
The BSC will now assess the bid while Formula 1 management weighs its options and hopefully make a decision that could change the fate of South African motorsport.
