Jehran Naidoo for Auto Rush
When it comes to fast VW Golf’s in KwaZulu-Natal, you can’t help but mention the name ‘Denzil’s Auto’.
This weekend at Mkuze Airfield during KZN Motor Racing’s event, Trivolin Pather lived up to the name, posting a 10.6s @ 217 km/h quarter mile in their 2 litre 20 valve ‘Golf 1’.

But they’re just getting started, says Denzil’s Auto spokesperson Daskiran Naidoo.
“Given that we’re still dialling the car in, the 10 second bracket is not our playing field. It’s been out for a couple events so far and very soon it will run with the fastest naturally aspirated cars in the country,” Daskiran told Auto Rush.
A little more modest about it was Trivolin, who said the car was capable of running a 9.9 second quarter mile with the current set-up.
Denzil’s Auto magic
“It’s running an Abf bottom end with the Golf 4 top. The engine is completely worked, rods, pistons and all of that. Reno from Fastcar Performance does all our engineering and machining.
“Ken from M-track built our 02J dog engagement gearbox. I still shift it like a normal car because we do not have the sequential lever in there.

“The goal for this car is to run in the 9 second bracket. I think with the current set-up and some minor tweaks on the suspension it can go 9.9 seconds,” Trivolin said.
The team
Raveen Ramrajh, Candy from Candy Tuned and Nivian Padayachee have been instrumental in getting the car developed.

Prior to Mkuze, Trivolin ran a 10.8 second 402m terminal at Dezzi Raceway.
The car runs on a FuelTech FT 450 engine management system and is fueled by a special meth concoction churned up by the Candy Man himself.
