Mr consistency: Undefeated Sashen Lingham breezes through SA Drag finals

Kimberly-based dragster Sashen Lingham once again was on top form at the final round of SA Drag Nationals at Killarney Raceway this past weekend.

Sashen led the class going into the final round coming off stellar performances in Durban and Port Elizabeth.

His Mazda 16v turbo powered 1979 Toyota Corolla, running on an Injepro T5000, ran in the F-class.

Bear in mind this is still a street legal vehicle which he drives around his home town every now and again.

The final round of SA Drag Nationals was staged as head to head racing instead of timed runs.

Sashen knocked out his opponents in stylish fashion.

“It all went very well. I took 1st place in the F class again and will likely win the F class outright for the year,” Sashen said.

The final results for the MSA Drag National Finals are still being audited, according to organiser Harry Naidoo.

Tributes for the victor

Paul Dos Santos, who handles the Injepro management system on Sashen’s car, also took to social media to celebrate his victory.

“Congratulations Sashen Lingham on your overall winning across the country taking first place in his class…1st place in all races, what an achievement,” Paul wrote on Facebook.

The F-class super comp has cars with a quarter mile time between 10-1-.499 seconds. Sashen ran a best time of 10.06 seconds at Killarney on Saturday.

His personal best in the turbo Toyota is 9.8 seconds, which was in the previous round at Aldo Scribante race track in Port Elizabeth.
