Over 100 racers battle at Loud Addicts Mexico drags at Dezzi Raceway

Despite gloomy weather on the east coast of South Africa this past weekend, the Loud Addicts Street to Strip event at Dezzi Raceway was a success.

Racing kicked off at just before 10am with 111 racers entering the gates, Loud Addicts founder JP Spies told Auto Rush.

Something for everyone

From stock 1.4i VW citi golfs to Collin and Norman Naidoo’s Nissan 1400 drag bakkie, Mexico featured a wide variety of cars for professionals and enthusiasts.

Spies also wanted to add some spice to his event, throwing in a few sessions for local drifters like Don Wheeler with his V8 FD RX7.

Besides being a motoring spectacle, Spies also celebrated his 40th birthday, making the day even more special.

Action from the get-go

“It was crazy busy but good. Lots of commotion and action from the time we opened the gates on Saturday morning. There were 111 cars that entered and had to stop racing at around 4:30pm because the rain came.

“Besides the rain, it was a success. I even added on some time for the drifting community this time around. I don’t think that sport gets enough attention at the moment in KwaZulu-Natal so it was good to give them an opportunity,” Spies said.

On the drag strip, it was action from the get-go with a bunch of modified Audi RS3’s, R line Golfs, and some serious dragsters held it down.

Old school wins

While the new school showed up to party, the “old school” dragsters really put on a show.

“Those guys like Collin, Logan and even the Kiddo’s Snacks Datsun that came through with their drag cars really put on a show for the people. That white Datsun really just picks up and goes. I really love that car.

“As for the race of the day, I think it belongs to Adzo and the AG Motorworx RS3 Sedan. That was a really close race until the end. For a little golf to give that RS3 a run for its money was nice to see,” Spies said.

Collin Naidoo called out any racer to challenge him in his 4AGE Turbo 1400 but none stepped up to the plate.
