When Ricardo Ramcharan imported a set of BC Coilovers from Taiwan, he had no idea how low his 3rd Generation Prelude would sit.
At its lowest, the static 1991 SI Model can fool anyone into thinking its just another aired-out Honda.
The edged-out Japanese lines from the 90s stood like a glass of cold milk among the colorful spread that attended the Ridge Car Show in September.
Devil in the details

Ricardo, being a bit of a perfectionist, opted to keep the car looking original. He even did some ‘period matching’ on his sound set up.
But the most noticeable feature on this static scraper is the Nissan 300ZX wheels in pearly white.
The gold lug nuts and calipers on the 16 inch wheel give the white on white look a touch of acidity.
Attaining such a harmonious fit did not come without its hiccups, however, as Ricardo had to seek help from a trusted professionals.
Nothing but the fit

“The current set-up with the 16 inch ZX wheels took some work to get it to the place I wanted. Its 8.5J at the back and 7.5J at the front. I am running 165/45.16 Vitour Formula X rubber in the back and front. It is quite stretched as you can see,” Ricardo said.
“The car has custom adapters made to fit the wheel. A guy named Alec Van Wyk from Johannesburg manufactured them for me. I imported the BC coilovers from Taiwan and did the fitting at home. It is a hobby of mine so it was a nice project to work on,” he added.
Ricardo purchased the wheel and got it refurbished at the Rim Joint in Hillary, Durban. He then went with a 2K white to finish the WOW look.
“The car and wheel were supposed to match but as you can see its not 100%. I did not have the time to match and just ended up going with the 2K white. Those D1 spec lug nuts are from Fury Motorsports while the calipers were done at home.”

‘Keeping it stock’
Under the hood, the B20A7 engine ensures the low Prelude doesn’t always go slow. Ricardo has neatened up the engine bay but still plans to give it a bit of TLC.

The interior of the Gen3 ‘lude is still pristine, with 90’s Pioneer mids’ keeping the party alive.
“I did some period matching on the sound set-up. It has all the 80’s and 90’s Pioneer speakers that came out during the time this car was launched.
“I’m not changing much of the interior but would like to add some more sound components in the future,” Ricardo said.
