Still a little 1.6L
It is still just little 1.6 litre power plant after this weekend, Sivs Naicker’s No Sweat Racing Toyota Corolla showed that a 9 second run is possible.
South African JDM fundi Steve Clark drove Naicker’s chisel shape Corolla during the Front wheel drive shootout on Saturday. Clarks tunes the Haltech Elite 1500 which is fitted in the car.

It was the only 1.6L to compete in the 4BX class this weekend, and claimed third place with a 10.5s @ 234km/h quarter mile time.
That, according to Naicker, was with a decent 60ft that can still be improved.

FOR THE SAKE OF DRAWING A COMPARISON to show the potential of the No Sweat Corolla, Jacques Van Rensberg Corsa – The Kraaifontein Killer, ran a 9.1s quarter mile and exited at 233km and a 1.4s 60FT.
Currently, the car has a best time of 10.26 seconds.

The Toyota left the line slower than the Corsa but still managed to generate an incredible amount of speed from the 100m mark.

“If we can get the 60ft right, I’m sure the car can run a 9 second quarter mile. Right now, that’s our goal,” Sivs told Auto Rush on Tuesday.
“We struggled to get the car going for sometime. Between work and racing, there’s just been a fight for time to actually sit down and get everything right.

“But we getting there. We still one of two 1.6L in the class, next to Donny’s Honda,” he added.
The Corolla is able to rev to 11,000 RPM because of the dry sump that’s been fitted in. It runs of a Garret GTX35 turbo at 2.3 bar boost for the coast.
There’s forged pistons and rods in the bottom end of the 4AGZE engine and runs on a 50/50 ethanol fuel mix.
A Toyota MR2 gearbox modified with dog gears delivers the power to the front wheels of the Chisel.
